AWARDS RECEIVED:

THE ARAVINDAN PURASKARAM
Aravindan Puraskaram, instituted by CHALACHITHRA Film Society, Trivandrum for the best debutant filmmaker, was announced. The jury consisting of M/s Balu Mahendra (Chairman) Biju Viswanath (filmmaker-cum-cinematographer, R Ajith Kumar (Resident Editor MANGALAM Daily), and P K Narayanan, representing Chalachithra, decided to bestow the Puraskaram for the year 2006 upon Mr Anirudhha Roy Chowdhury, the director of the Bengali film ANURANAN.
The Jury observed as follows - "An urban tale of modern India, very convincingly narrated with an expertly knitted script, brilliant editing, unobtrusive cinematography, convincing performance and evocative music.
Being the first film of the director, his handling of this complex theme and his command over the medium is incredible."

The awards ceremony took place in Trivandrum, on the 15th of March 2007, the 16th death Anniversary day of the late Shri G Aravindan, where a Citation and a Memento was presented to Mr Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury.
